It reports story-word totals, scene count and scene lengths, dialogue versus action words, speaking characters, dialogue share by character, locations, interior/exterior coverage, and time-of-day patterns.
No. It is a descriptive word-level comparison, not a grade. Genre, format, voice, and the purpose of an individual scene all change what a useful balance looks like.
Story words include action, dialogue, parentheticals, lyrics, and centered text. Sluglines, character cues, title-page metadata, notes, and hidden boneyard text are excluded.
It accepts Fountain, the open plain-text screenplay format. Standard and forced scene headings, action, character cues, dialogue, parentheticals, transitions, and common title-page fields are parsed.
