Your writing, yours to keep
How Inkwell handles your drafts, API keys, and AI requests during beta — ownership, encryption, and the limits that apply today. Export everything you write, whenever you want it.
You own what you write
Your screenplays, save points, and version history are yours. Export to Fountain, FDX, and PDF anytime — lossless round-trip means your writing survives Inkwell.
Encrypted, and BYOK-ready
Documents are encrypted in transit and at rest. Bring your own API key to keep model calls on your provider account — keys are encrypted at rest and used for AI you initiate (chat, ghost-text completion, and skills).
Never a training corpus
Your scripts are never used to train foundation models. Skill passes send scoped context to the provider you authorize and return suggestions — nothing is opted into a training set.
The details
The full answers your legal or security team will want — ownership, storage, deletion, and what leaves your workspace.
Who owns the work I create in Inkwell?
You do. Inkwell does not claim ownership of the screenplays, save points, or version history you create or bring into the product. You can export to Fountain, PDF, and FDX (Final Draft), so your files are not locked in. Separate employment, collaboration, option, or purchase agreements can still allocate particular rights.
Can I bring my own AI API key?
Yes. Inkwell supports bring-your-own-key configuration so you can use your own provider account, with the model and key managed in settings. Hosted AI remains available on every plan if you prefer not to manage keys.
Where is my script stored?
Your documents live in Inkwell's cloud workspace, encrypted in transit and at rest. Export to Fountain or PDF anytime, so your master copy does not depend on staying subscribed.
Do you train AI models on my screenplays?
No. Your scripts are not used to train foundation models. AI requests send only the context needed for the work to the provider you authorize—Inkwell-hosted or your own key—and do not opt your screenplay into a training corpus.
What happens to my data if I delete my account?
You can request account deletion by contacting privacy@inkwell.software. We remove workspace data per our privacy policy and confirm when deletion is complete.
Can my studio review Inkwell's security posture?
Enterprise and studio teams can request a security overview by emailing team@inkwell.software. During beta we answer directly — formal SOC documentation will follow as production deployments scale.
