Frequently asked questions
Everything you need to know about Inkwell pricing.
How much does Inkwell cost?
Free: $0; Writer: $19 per month; Pro: $39 per month; Team: $39 per seat, per month. Enterprise: custom pricing.
Does Inkwell have a free plan?
Yes — the Free plan covers everything you need to start writing: 2 screenplay projects with 2 draft lines each, save points with recent version history (named save points are always kept), up to 20 AI skill passes a month, and PDF and Fountain export. Three paid tiers build on it. Writer adds 10 projects with 10 draft lines each, up to 200 AI skill passes a month, complete version control, and FDX (Final Draft) export. Pro adds the most capable AI models, 5 times the AI quotas, custom skills, takes, production reports with revision colors, and collaboration with up to 5 people across your projects. Team adds real-time collaboration, shared workspaces, and role-based permissions for writers' rooms. See the pricing page for the full breakdown.
Can I switch plans at any time?
Absolutely. Upgrade, downgrade, or cancel at any time. If you downgrade, you keep access until the end of your billing period. Your screenplays and save points are never deleted.
What happens to my work if I cancel or change plans?
Your screenplays, save points, and version history are always yours. You can export to Fountain and PDF on every plan — including Free — and to FDX (Final Draft) on Writer and above, at any time. Nothing is deleted when you change or cancel a plan.
Do you offer discounts for students or educators?
Yes. Verified students and educators get 50% off Pro after beta. Contact us at education@inkwell.software with your institutional email — we verify eligibility manually during beta.
What's the difference between save points and draft lines?
Save points are immutable snapshots of your work — think of them as save files you can always return to. Draft lines are parallel versions of your screenplay — like exploring an alternate ending without losing your original.
When is Canvas available?
Canvas is in early access / beta for Pro and Team subscribers — join from the Canvas product page. Plot is generally available for screenplays today. Canvas shares the same version control and AI skill engine as Plot, extended for general-purpose documents.
