# Campaign session prep

## Adventure title

The tunnel asks a different toll

## The opening situation

At the gate, a stranger confidently repeats something one character told only a trusted friend\. Behind the party, an entire caravan is refused entry\.

## People with conflicting wants

Reeve Nahl\: Keep the pass open before food prices break the settlements on both sides\.

Tess, the toll's interpreter\: End the trade in stolen secrets without becoming the next person publicly exposed\.

## Meaningful choices

Trace the stolen payments and offer the gate a toll people can consent to\.

Lead the caravan through an abandoned route, accepting the political cost of bypassing the gate\.

## Clues the party can find

\- The oldest toll marks depict a spoken promise, not a confession\.
\- Several receipts repeat the same handwriting despite naming different payers\.
\- The abandoned route was closed by an agreement, not a collapse\.

## What changes if nobody acts?

The gate begins returning stolen secrets to the wrong travelers\. Each revelation creates a new dispute while the food caravan remains outside\.

## Tonight’s scope and table agreements

One session\: toll hall, interpreter's room and old route\. Ask players what personal material is welcome before inventing their characters' secrets\.
