# Campaign session prep

## Adventure title

The counterfeit heir tells the truth

## The opening situation

During a public reading of the will, both claimants hire the party to protect the same witness\. The witness has already joined the kitchen staff to escape them\.

## People with conflicting wants

Edda, the admitted impostor\: Turn the estate into housing for the workers whose wages paid for it\.

Lord Fen\: Keep the estate solvent before its debts make every resident homeless, including himself\.

## Meaningful choices

Prove the workers' claim and negotiate how they will meet the estate's real debts\.

Expose both claimants' omissions and help the witness propose a third settlement\.

## Clues the party can find

\- The will's seal is genuine; a later page was substituted\.
\- The missing wages and the debt payments went to the same lender\.
\- The kitchen witness copied the original will onto a flour order before it disappeared\.

## What changes if nobody acts?

The lender arrives with an auction notice\. Every claimant offers the party a shortcut that would silence someone else\.

## Tonight’s scope and table agreements

One evening in one estate\: reading room, kitchen and locked accounts office\. The climax is a settlement the party can influence, not a required duel\.
