# Use slash commands

> Open the skill palette from the page, find a skill by typing its name, set the scope, and run it without reaching for the sidebar.

[Try it in Plot](https://app.inkwell.software/projects)

Every skill has a slash command — `/dialogue-pass`, `/coverage`, `/organize`. The skill palette lets you run one from wherever your cursor is, scoped to the scene you are in, without opening the Skills tab.

1. **Open the skill palette**

Press `⌘/` / `Ctrl+/` in the editor. The palette lists every skill with its one-line description.

2. **Type the skill's name**

Start typing — `dial` is enough for [Dialogue Pass](https://www.inkwell.software/skills/dialogue-pass), `cov` for [Script Coverage](https://www.inkwell.software/skills/coverage). Use the arrow keys if more than one matches, then press `Enter`.

![The palette opened with / and narrowed by typing dial: the search box (1) and the skills that match (2), each with the scope it takes and what it returns.](https://www.inkwell.software/help/slash-palette.light.webp)

3. **Confirm the scope**

The palette proposes the scene your cursor is in. Change it to an act or the whole script if that is what you mean, then run.

4. **Carry on writing**

The pass runs in the Skills tab. Keep working; when it finishes, its proposals arrive in the page for review — see [Review a skill's changes](https://www.inkwell.software/help/ai/review-a-skills-changes).

> **Tip: Skills you wrote yourself**
>
> Custom skills you have authored in Settings → Custom skills appear in the same palette under their own commands. See [The skills library](https://www.inkwell.software/help/ai/the-skills-library).
